About	Joaquin Miller Park is a 500-acre preserve and is a lovely hiking spot in Oakland. The park has an 8,500 square-foot, rustic wood framed, one-story building with glass windows and doors and a stunning view of the bay. The best of the redwoods on the hilltop is the flat area at the highest point of the extensive tree trail. The first intersection and climb the steep path past the foundations of an old house to hit the road at sunset. It is one of the few open space areas where dogs are allowed in the City of Oakland. There are two fenced-off dedicated dog play areas that always seem to have dogs there and lots of surrounding trails with a steep hill to get your dog an excellent workout. The public restrooms are well maintained.
