Over 117,000 artifacts interweave the rich, complex, and sometimes tumultuous history of Mobile and the surrounding region, from the prehistoric past to the present. The Special Exhibition Gallery often shifts regularly so that tourists can experience something new with every return. Visitors can see the real pieces of history, like an actual cannon from the Civil War raider ship CSS Alabama or a baseball signed by Mobile legend Henry "Hank" Aaron.
