| About | Museum of Discovery and Science started its existence as a Junior League of Fort Lauderdale project. It was opened in 1977 in the historic New River Inn as the Discovery Center, a convenient museum of art, science, and history. Museum of Discovery and Science is one of the largest museums of its kind in Florida and has the most visitors of any museum in the state. The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to connect people to exciting knowledge. Visitors can explore and discover more than 200 dynamic hands-on exhibits, six-story IMAX 3D Theater, and live animals. They are open to all people and families with physical and emotional disabilities. More than 90,000 students visit the museum every year on school-sponsored field trips. |
