| About | Harrison Opera House is the official home of the Virginia Opera in the Neon District of Downtown Norfolk on the boundary of the Ghent Square neighborhood. The opera house is named after Edythe Harrison and Stanley, an earlier member of the Virginia House of Delegates and founding president of the Virginia Opera. They built as a public works auditorium; this place served as a venue for World War II USO shows. The theater had a seating capacity of 1,632. The building initially contained both the USO/Center Theater and the adjoining former Norfolk Municipal Auditorium, which now serves as storage and managerial space for the Virginia Opera. |
