About | National September 11 Memorial and Museum is a memorial and museum in New York City that commemorates and honors the 2,983 people killed in the 11 September 2001 and 26 February 1993 attacks. The Memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers that were destroyed during the September 11 attacks. It was designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker. The Memorial's architecture includes two reflective pools shaped in the footprints of the original Twin Towers surrounded by white oak trees. It also explores the global impact of 11 September and its enduring importance through educational programs, public events, live talks, and films. It gives educational guided tours and self-guided visits. It affords free admission for children under 7. Wheelchairs, strollers mechanized scooters are available. |
