About | Mother Colony House is one of the first buildings in Anaheim, built-in 1857. George Hansen has constructed this house for his own home and office and is known today as the "Father of Anaheim." Mother Colony House is made of redwood, consists of three small rooms, and is classified as an American Territorial-style cottage. They added the addition at the rear was added in the 1870s. The single gable roof has a flaring eave with its elaborate roof crest covering the front porch. The Anaheim City Council has appointed the Mother Colony House Advisory Board to make house maintenance and preservation recommendations. Mother Colony House was added to historical places in July 2013, and the adjacent Woelke-Stoffel house was listed as a cottage in the American Territorial style. |
