AboutThe Clock Tower is an iconic and historical monument and one of the top landmarks located in St Albans, UK. The Clock Tower is a Grade I listed building in St Albans, England, which was constructed between 1403 to 1412 and believed to be completed in 1405. The clock tower was named Gabriel, is an original bell, still rings the hour and can be seen on the fourth floor. The clock mechanism, built-in 1866, works on the second floor. The clock tower was a political statement in the first place. The Clock Tower has been claimed to be the last remaining medieval town belfry in England and was initially built as a sign of protest against the power of the local abbe. Tourists and visitors can enjoy the spectacular views of St Albans from this tower; the tower has an entrance and 93 steep steps to the top.
