| About | Callendar House is a French-chateau styled large home that becomes a surprise almost every shift. The house lies on the line of the 2nd-century Antonine Wall, built by the Romans from the Firth of Clyde to the Firth of Forth. It offers a changing program of modern visual art presentations, while the 2nd-floor exhibition explores different aspects of cultural heritage. Callendar House has played host to several significant past figures: Queen of Scots, Mary, Cromwell and Bonnie Prince Charlie. They bring history to life as an authentic Georgian food sample, listen to living stories below stairs, and watch their regular tasks performed by galley personnel. The free entry gives you an insight into the Gladiators their lives and deaths. There are stairs, lifts and accessible toilets in the building. You can lose yourself for a couple of hours in the house and just as many in the gardens. |
