| About | Academy Theater is a busy cultural centre operated as a non-profit organization in Lindsay, ON. The center can seat 900 people. They are presenting incredible concerts, community productions and providing a venue for local schools and organizations. It consists of one balcony, one dress circle, and VIP boxes on each side of the stage. It provides local schools and organizations with a venue. The Academy depends on rental revenue and is strongly funded by the kindness of public donations. There were three furnaces in the building, which needed to be fed coal continuously. It was in this theatre that Marie Dressler made her first stage appearance at the age of 5. It is 18.5 miles from downtown Kawartha Lakes. |
