About	Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal is the mother church of Montreal and the first Gothic Revival church in Canada. The church bears witness to its Catholic roots and the ever-present ties between the arts and religion. The architectural style represented a turning point in the Christian tradition and was followed by several parishes. A community of prayer and celebration of Catholic worship, the Basilica of Notre Dame, has always been a theatre of significant events that have captured the creativity of the Québécois. Elevated to the rank of a minor basilica in 1982 by Pope John Paul II and assigned a National Historic Site of Canada in 1989. They feature beautiful architecture, golden leaves, infinite light, thousands of stars and excellent stained glass windows. Basilique Notre-Dame is the gathering place where faithful believers receive the Word of the Lord through the Liturgy, the Eucharist and the celebration of the sacrament.
