About | The National Wool Museum shows the timeless Australian tale of wool, fibre and textiles. It was founded in Geelong, Victoria, as part of the Australian Bicentennial Celebrations in 1988. The Museum started its existence as the National Wool Center and was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 14 April 1988. As among Victoria's most important bicentennial projects, it has since become a must-see museum and tourist attraction. It has several contemporary exhibits, public programs and special events. It houses two prominent galleries dedicated to the story of Australian wool. The National Wool Museum presents the timeless Australian story of wool, from sheep farming and wool production to processing fleece into the fabric. |
