About | The Museum and Art Gallery is managed and assisted by the Museum and Art Gallery Board of the Northern Territory. An extension was constructed and completed in 1992 to demonstrate the maritime past of the Northern Territories. In 1993, the museum's name was modified to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territories. It aims to be a world-class museum connecting people and stories of the Northern Territory. Over the last few decades, the MAGNT portfolio has grown to include regional museums and heritage sites across Darwin and Alice Springs. The Museum and Art Gallery has art, history, science, and culture in the Northern Territory. The museum attracts more than 300,000 tourists annually to the pages. Every year, MAGNT exhibits both internally established exhibitions and traveling exhibitions from around Australia. It features the history, science, and visual art of the region and its people. |
