| About | Bendigo Art Gallery was established in 1887. It is one of the oldest and largest regional art galleries in Australia. The gallery's collection was initially housed in the room of the former Bendigo Volunteer Rifle, transformed into an exhibition space by the Bendigo architect. In 1897, it was expanded to the Drury Court, designed by a local architect. The gallery's collection focuses mainly on 19th-century British and European Continental paintings. It was proudly owned and managed by the City of Greater Bendigo with the additional support of Creative Victoria. Over the last decade, Bendigo Art Gallery has cemented its reputation for presenting innovative international exhibitions alongside a dynamic and varied suite of public programs. |
