About	Sacred Heart Cathedral is one of the largest and principal churches of the Diocese of Sandhurst and the home Church of the Cathedral Parish, serving the people of central and northwest parts of Bendigo and many visitors to the church and the city. The church is a Gothic-style Architecture designed by an architect of the firm Reed, Barnes and Tappin. During the construction planning, Sacred Heart Cathedral encouraged some gold-mining parishioners to contribute some of their finds to the church. After years moved on, a ministry was established to complete the plans of the cathedral, using the sandstone quarried from the Geelong area. In 1905, a large pipe organ was built and installed. It is now standing as one of the famous landmarks of Australia and is 75 metres long, has a ceiling height of 24 metres. Sacred Heart Cathedral celebrates liturgy and strives to serve each other and those beyond their Parish with missionary spirit.
