| About | Sherwood House Museum is one of the fully furnished resident farmhouses in the New York Metropolitan area. The house is a 3-story frame structure on an exposed basement built into a hillside. The house was developed about 1740 by Thomas Sherwood on property leased from Frederick Philipse and was purchased in 1801 by Yonkers’ first physician, Doctor John Ingersoll. The Yonkers Historical Society has carried on preserving and restoring this landmark through contributions of furniture, artifacts, funds, and countless hours of work. |
