| About | Great Valley Museum touches hearts, opens minds, and inspires action towards discovering, appreciating, and preserving their natural heritage and environment. The GVM serves as a resource to educational institutions, including Modesto Junior College. They offer group tours for groups of up to 70 individuals. Their Traveling Teacher program offers over three dozen programs that come out to local elementary schools to cover topics such as live animals, nature, the various sciences, craft topics, and their California Valley history. Their docent-guided tours cover the natural history and diverse habitats of the Central Valley of California. Live animal shows in which they present some of the two dozen live animals are also available for groups. In their museum, they have a Discovery Room dedicated to hands-on activities and materials. This room also houses two dozen live animals, including snakes, skinks, tarantulas, and many others. |
