| About | Colorado State Capitol is the home of the Colorado General Assembly and the offices of the Governor of Colorado and Lieutenant Governor of Colorado. Elijah E. Myers designed the Capitol building, and its construction lasted from 1886 through 1901. The Colorado Capitol was designed in the shape of a greek cross on an axis and followed the basic design of the Washington, DC, nation's Capitol. The Capitol's external walls are made of quarried granite near Gunnison, Colorado. It offers a forum for the public to access Colorado State Capitol information from the various groups whose work is associated with the building. It has a point situated exactly above sea level at 5.280 feet. Visitors can get free tours. |
