About	Cliff Cave County is one of the best hiking areas in St Louis. The park covers 525 acres with a flood plain wetland area, a widely wooded forest with a range of ancient growing trees such as the Shag Bark Hickory, a picnic shelter, and a scenic river view. The park features fantastic views of the Mississippi from rocky bluffs towering over the river at 170 feet. The caverns also acted as a recreation spot for Jefferson Barracks volunteer soldiers who designed a new lounge at the entrance. The Bluff Trail (2.0 miles) provides the experienced rider with the best technical features. The connection to the paved trail network is through two parking lots. If the nature trails are too muddy for use, the paved trail system provides a pleasant travel place. The Bottom of the park is perfect for a gravel bike ride with the kids. There is an excellent large series of loops and back-and-our paved trails that make for easy walking and some well-maintained mountain biking trails.
