About | Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge is 18,000 acres of protected land in the southern portion of the county. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to conservation, protection, enhancement. It is one of the few urban refuges in Sacramento County. The refuge is home to many migrating bird species. The staffs and volunteers at the refuge are often available to answer inquiries and give maps and brochures. They are working to improve wildlife habitat and public education. Visitors can enjoy wildlife-related activities, including wildlife observation, hiking, and photography. |
