About	Gesu Church was founded in 1567 when Jesuit missionaries arrived at the Miami River's mouth with the Spanish settlement established by Don Pedro Menendez de Avila. The church has eight hundred parishioners. The church has a beautiful temple built in Germany with polychrome crystal-led widows that relate events in Jesus and Mary's life. Gesu Church Senior Citizens Center has a 26 computer seat computer lab. Their seniors are given weekly lessons and can use computers for several tasks. The buildings are outstanding examples of religious architecture and remarkable for their style, craftsmanship, excellence. Gesu Church adult faith formation is offered through weekly bible study and through an RCIA program to prepare adults for Christian initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion). Their support group for married couples meets biweekly. Gesu is the oldest Catholic parish in Florida and has served the community's religious and social needs for over a century.
