About	Kumon Southend on Sea offers Maths and English programmes to support children who attend their tutoring centre after school. Alison Wallace is the instructor of the tutoring centre. Kumon has 12 class assistants, who are trained in different areas of Kumon study, supporting over 150 students of different ages & abilities. Their Maths Programme progresses from the very basics of counting to calculus & beyond, all without the use of a calculator. Their English Programme aims to develop each student's ability to read and understand a variety of texts and to nurture a life-long habit of reading for education & enjoyment. Kumon provides guidance, support & encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies. Their staff acknowledge student achievements along the way but celebrate them more publicly at their annual presentation ceremony.
