About	Thornes Park is a public open space and beautiful park located in Wakefield. It is situated only a 15-minute walk from the heart of Wakefield city centre. The park hosts various events, concerts, entertainments and festivals throughout the year. The park has a skate park for budding skateboarders, a miniature steam railway, an adventure playground and tennis courts. There are plenty of green open areas for you to bring your ball games, make a day of it and bring a picnic. The park offers 60 hectares of open space to explore and enjoy, including a 2-mile circular path that follows the park's boundary. At Thornes Park, the stork lodge cafe provides some great refreshments when you need a well-deserved rest.
