| About | Ashton Memorial is home to the iconic Ashton Memorial and 54 acres of beautiful parkland with enchanting woodland walks, play areas and breathtaking views to the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells and mountains. At around 150 feet tall, it dominates the Lancaster skyline, is visible for many miles around, and has sceneries of the surrounding area, including Morecambe Bay. It was designed by John Belcher and completed in 1909. The Grade 1 listed Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lancaster industrialist Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife, Jessy. The first-floor outdoor viewing gallery shows superb views of the surrounding countryside and out across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland fells and mountains. |
