About | Stanley Palace is a national heritage building in Chester. The palace was built as the townhouse for Sir Peter Warburton, a local lawyer and Member of Parliament. It is presently owned by Cheshire West and Chester's council and is managed by the Friends of Stanley Palace. The palace has four gables on the east face and three on the north face. The south wall in the palace is constructed using brick, and the roofs are made up of slate. Stanley Palace is designated as a Grade II listed building. Stanley Palace was converted into a mansion house and divided into apartments in the nineteenth century. In 1928 the place was given to Chester Corporation. |
