| About | Boarstall Tower is the remaining gatehouse of a military building back to the 14th century, restored in 1615. This historic place is a country lane where you do not expect the crenellated moated three-storey stone gatehouse. Extensive gardens and a moat surrounded the building. The gardens were used for farming between 1777 and 1925, after which the formal layout was restored. You will be shown around by knowledgeable volunteer guides who tell you the stories are spanning a thousand years behind what you see now and what's there no longer. |
