About	Gelert Dog Training is a family-owned and operated dog training company in Newport. They have been serving in the local community for more than 40 years. John Bills is the owner and certified trainer in the area, and also he has trained both working dogs and private dogs for obedience. He is a member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers, also a retired Home Office Police dog Instructor. John has trained police dogs and handlers for more than 23 years, specialising in scent work to locate explosives, bodies, illegal substances, and also he has trained private dogs and handlers for over 20 years. The training venue is at a purpose-built outside venue which is much more realistic to training indoors. There are a limited number of spaces on the courses which are run throughout the year. Gelert Dog Training also offers agility classes and assists prospective dog owners in selecting the right dog for them and their families.
