It is a Grade II listed building that stands near the Durham marketplace. The church is a vibrant and lively Anglican evangelical church that has been serving the community starting from the early 12th century. St. Nicholas Church faced various renovations and expansion over the years, for being able to accommodate the growing population of the locality. The old church was demolished, and the new church building was constructed with decorated Gothic style in 1857. The bell cast in the church tower is from 1687, which is one of the oldest ring of bells in the diocese. |
