| About | St. Mary's Cathedral was designed in Gothic Revival architecture by Alexander Ellis, and the construction was completed in 1860. It is one of the largest parish buildings that is located in the heart of Aberdeen city centre. The cathedral is a multi-cultural parish, seeking faith and glory of God through prayers and worships. The bells and spires in the cathedral building were cast in 1876. St. Mary's Cathedral has a calm and peaceful ambience, which attracts people even from the neighbouring communities to attend prayers, worships and masses. It was serving the rapidly growing population of the community as a church; as the population increased up to 74,000, the church was expanded and after years, it was raised to cathedral status. |
