| About | Khambhalida Caves is three Buddist caves in Rajkot. It is situated at the end of hillocks, and it was carved out of limestone rocks. It consists of three caves; the stupa is in the central cave known as the chaitya cave. The chaitya cave has two sculptures of Bodhisattva on the sides of the gates. These caves have intricate designs & sculptures. Also, there are 15 more caves surrounding the main caves. Most caves & monasteries in this region were in the form of residential quarters. Khambhalida Caves are the oldest caves from the fourth or fifteenth century, and it is a real historical wonderland. |
