| About | Aga Khan Palace played an important part in the fight for independence in India. It is also known as the Gandhi National Memorial. For almost two years, Gandhiji and his colleagues were locked in this palace until they were released on 6 May 1944. Within the palace premises, Mahadev Desai and Kasturba Gandhi breathed their last during the same time. It is a three-storied structure with a floor area of 1756 square. Aga Khan Palace has a rich collection of Gandhiji-related memorabilia is preserved and exhibited. There is also a shop where clothes made of handloom textiles and khadi are sold within the premises. The palace is a major attraction for photographers for photoshoots. |
