About	Thirumalai Nayak Palace is a majestic place to visit during the Madurai tour. The palace was constructed by King Thirumalai Nayak in 1635, who had the vision of creating a masterpiece for a royal stay. Initially, it was a residence for the king by an Italian architect. Thirumalai Nayak Palace was constructed with foliated brickwork, while the palace's polished texture resulted from the use of chunnam, a mixture of shell lime and egg white. The palace features light and sound show which is one of the most attractive features. The light show will host every evening; the light show is about the story of Silappathikaram. This palace was declared as a national monument immediately after independence.
