| About | James Prinsep Ghat was built in 1841 along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River. It is one of the oldest recreational spots in Kolkata. The Prinsep monument is covered with Greek and Gothic inscriptions. The Kolkata public works department renovated the ghat in 2001, and they well maintained it. At an early ghat, all British royals used the jetty for embarkation and disembarkation. People visiting the ghat go boating on the river, walk along the bank, and buy stall food. |
