About	Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary is one of the must places to visit in Kochi. It covers over 2.74 hectares is situated in the heart of the lively city of Kochi. The Sanctuary is eighteen acres of mangroves and has a wide number of migratory birds and densely populated species of trees. There is a small tidal lake in the sanctuary centre that is surrounded by dense mangrove vegetation & is connected through a canal to Kochi's backwaters. This green dreamland also shelters around six species of mammals, including Indian flying fox, painted bat, Eurasian otter, house rat & three-striped palm squirrel. You can enjoy a peaceful place with lots of exotic trees and birds. The best time to visit the Sanctuary is in the early summer months, especially from mid-January to early March.
