| About | Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 A.D by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Hawa Mahal is the tallest building in the world without a foundation. It is the most iconic landmark, and it is famous for its pink latticed windows and balconies that give the town below a spectacular view. The wind blew through the windows will always keep the palace cool. There are 953 elegant sandstone windows in the palace, from which the royal women used to see the city's processions. The palace is formed of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles and is constructed with pink and red sandstone. It is maintained by the archaeological department of the Government of Rajasthan. Visitors can explore the stone-carved screens, small casements, and arched roofs. |
