About	The Orissa State Maritime Museum, which was established at this Jobra Workshop, comprises ten galleries and all of the supporting components that a modern museum need. This facility, which dates back to circa 1869, holds the distinction of being the only workshop in the Bengal Presidency of British India that served the needs of three provinces: Bihar, Bengal, and Odisha. It was established by the British administration's then PWD department, thanks to the efforts of one Scottish engineer, Mr G.H.Faulkner, shortly after the catastrophic famine of 1866 in Odisha, known as "Naa Anka Durviksha".
