About | Gujari Mahal Archeological Museum is a state museum in Gwalior, located in the fortress of Gujari Mahal. The museum is called as State Archaeological Museum, sometimes called the "Gwalior Fort Museum." The palace of Gujari Mahal was constructed by Tomar Rajput ruler Man Singh Tomar for his wife, Mrignayani, she belonged to the Gujar tribe. Mrignayani demanded an independent palace for herself with a regular water supply through an aqueduct from the nearby Rai River. Later the palace was converted into an archaeological museum. The museum offers free entry for children up to 15 years and disabled persons. |
