About | Assam State Museum, previously known as Assam Provincial Museum, is located in the southern end of Dighali Pukhuri tank in the heart of Guwahati, Assam. The Museum was established on April 21, 1940, by the Kamrupa Anusandhan Samity. The Museum is one of the most famous in north-eastern India, as it was in both ancient and modern historical culture. The Museum has a unique environment with antique cars, two-wheelers, gramophones, etc. The Museum has collections of 14,000 items, almost 5,000 artefacts presented in different sections. Assam State Museum is dedicated to Assam culture and heritage, and it always provides a vibrant and breathtaking presentation of the state's centuries-old traditions. |
