About | The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a simple suspension bridge across the Capilano River in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. The bridge was first designed by the Scottish civil engineer George Grant Mackay in the year 1889. The bridge is One hundred and forty metres long and seventy metres above the river. It was initially constructed of hemp ropes with a cedar plank deck, and in 1903 it was replaced with a wireline.
