| About | McDougall Cottage Historic Site serves as an interpretation centre that hosts a variety of special events. The historical cottage has a stone front and elegant interior with painted murals on the ceiling and upper borders. The historic place serves as an interpretation centre, displays its unique interior landscapes, presents locally fascinating exhibitions and shares research resources with the public. It contains a wide range of spectacular hand-painted friezes (patterns along the top of walls or buildings) and trompe l'oeil ceilings (three-dimensional illusions) that Ontario has to offer. The place is a well-preserved showpiece of the early history of southern Ontario, and the place provides a view into the past while preserving an essential piece of Cambridge's local architectural history. McDougall Cottage Historic Site even affords free crafts for kids. |
