About	Fairmount Bagel was started in 1919 by Isadore Shlafman. He arrived from the old country(Russia) and looked for a job as a bagel baker, the trade he had learned back home. But there were no bagel bakeries in Montreal, so he opened Montreal’s very first bagel bakery! They are still located at 74 Fairmount Ave West. His son Jack joined him in the bakery in 1950 and his grandchildren joined their father, in 1979. In 2010, 2 of his grandsons joined the business. Fairmount Bagel is an authentic institution in Montreal that has been run by 4 generations of the Shlafman Family. The bagel they bake today are made with the same technique and tradition that grandfather Isadore used over 100 years ago. All bagel are rolled by hand and baked with their wood burning ovens. Fairmount Bagel has a variety of bagels: sesame, poppy, plain, garlic or even blueberry. They also make whole wheat, multigrain, muesli and power bagel using 100% organic whole wheat flour.
