About | The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is home to a splendid array of conifers and cool temperate plants, many of which date back to the 19th century and broad gardens that accommodate the flora of the Southern Hemisphere. Botanical characteristics include the special conservation array of Tasmanian plants in a wide range of natives, many of them rare and endangered species. The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is the only Subantarctic Plant House to house the flora of Macquarie Island, an area of 128 square kilometres between Tasmania and Antarctica. With a total of 14 hectares to explore, visitors can take time to relax and explore or tailor a walk based on personal interest. The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens offers free admission for all visitors. |
