Ivan was born in Charters Towers, schooled in Abergowrie, moved to The University of Queensland to do law graduation and arrived in Townsville in 1988 to serve as an Articled Clerk. He has been at O'Shea Dyer Solicitors ever since. Ivan became a partner in the business in 1995, and when other partners retired in 2013, he became the sole director.
